Dan Halksworth to race in Super League Triathlon

Local ironman Dan Halksworth has been named among a world-class field including Olympic medallist Jonathan Brownlee for Super League Triathlon in Jersey next month.

The series, which aims to revolutionise triathlon, has been described as the biggest sporting event ever brought to the island.

The top three ranked athletes in the World Triathlon Series, Mario Mola, Javier Gomez Noya, and Richard Murray, are also among those who will be racing in St Helier on 23-24 September.

Jersey’s Halksworth comes from a long-distance background, but has won individual gold medals in triathlon at the last two NatWest Island Games.

Super League Triathlon introduces three new formats, with two being used across the two-day event in Jersey.

I’m hugely excited and very proud to be representing Jersey at the event. The fact it’s in Jersey is absolutely incredible. I was an ironman athlete, so for me going into this sport is like a marathon runner trying to do a 100m sprint so I’m not expecting too much. On a personal level, one of my good friends who I used to race with, Andrea Salvisberg, is someone I’m looking forward to toeing the line with. We didn’t get to do it so much when we were training together, so it’ll be a good laugh to see if I can try to embarrass him.
