The first of the August Aquathlons starts 4th August at Ouaisne
The JTC August Aquathlon Series will consist of four races on Thursday evenings in August. Races 1 and 3 will be at Ouaisne on 4th and 18th of August and races 2 and 4 will be at St Catherine’s on 11th and 25th of August. The seniors race will be open to those aged 15 or over as at 31 December 2016. Relay teams may enter but will not score any league points.
All races will consist of a 750m sea swim followed by a 4km run (road and offroad). There will also be a 300m swim option available with a time penalty. SwimRun competitors will be allowed to use pull-buoys, paddles, fins and swim in their shoes, but they must carry all such equipment with them on the run – ie they will not be allowed a ‘transition’. They will start 2:00 after the other swimmers and therefore incur a 2:00 penalty, but otherwise will be entered in the league with an *.
In addition to the seniors’ race there will also be two shorter races held by the junior club. These races will start at 18:00 and will be 100m swim/1km run and 300m swim/2km run. There will be no strict age cut-offs for either event with discretion being left to parents, competitor and coaches. Seniors may also participate in the 300m/2km event if they wish. Wetsuits are compulsory for all those under 15.
When: Seniors: 17:45 Registration for a 18:30 Start.
Juniors: registration from 17:30 for 18:00 start.
Who: Anybody is welcome to turn up. No pre-registration required.
Cost: Free for club members. £10 for a single race or £25 for all 4.
High tide is expected 20:30, so will be coming in throughout the races.
