General:  The JTC Ana Leaf August Aquathlon Series will consist of four races on Thursday evenings in August.  Races 1 and 3 will be at St Catherine’s on 2 and 16 August and races 2 and 4 will be at Ouiasne on 9 and 23 August.

Relay teams may enter the Long course only but will not score any league points.  SwimRun competitors will be allowed to use pull-buoys, paddles, fins, tow ropes and swim in their shoes, but they must carry all such equipment with them on the run – ie they will not be allowed a ‘transition’.  Depending on numbers SwimRunners may be required to start shortly (10-15 seconds) after the other swimmers, but otherwise will be entered in the league as normal.

St Catherines Long Course: The Long course is a 750m swim followed by a 4km run and is open to anyone aged 15 or over as at 31 December 2018.

Swim (750m): In the water start clockwise one lap of a triangular course (keeping buoys on right).  Measured from the slipway using two buoys, one at 150m, then 250m from that at a slight angle inshore such that 350m back to slipway.

Run (4km) From Transition run past the life boat hut along Rte de St Catherines, runners should keep to the left hand side of the road until ready to cross.  Right up Mont des Ormes along Le Grand Cotil and down Rue Du Moulin and back along Rte de St Catherine again keeping to the left hand side of the road.  Round the rock and at the café head out on the breakwater turning clockwise at a marker (500m) near the end and then back past the monolith to Transition for a finish across the timing chip mat.

St Catherines Medium Course: TS2 and above and adults (11 and above).

Swim (300m) In the water start clockwise one lap out and back (keeping buoy on right).  Measured from the slipway at 150m.

Run (2km) – Two laps from Transition run out along the breakwater.   At a marker 500m along, turn and run back along the breakwater around another marker (near the monolith), back to the same point along the breakwater and then return to Transition for a finish across the timing chip mat.

St Catherines Short Course:  Children aged between 8 and 15 (inclusive) on the day of the race (NB the maximum run guidance from the BTF is 600m for TSS (age 8), this extra distance needs to be carefully considered by parents).

Swim (100m) In the water start as a 50m out and back turning around a kayak or swimmer.

Run (1km) – One lap from Transition run out along the breakwater.   At a marker 500m along, turn and run back along the breakwater to return to Transition for a finish across the timing chip mat.

Ouaisne Long Course: The Long course is a 750m swim followed by a 4km run and is open to anyone aged 15 or over as at 31 December 2018.

Swim
375m out and back.  One buoy will be positioned at 150m the other at 375m.  The swim start will be a beach start behind a line in the sand.  Swimmers should keep the buoys on their right.

Transition
This will be between the footpath and the car park, it is not suggested that this will be taped off or otherwise marked with competitors just being required to leave their running kit and swimming accessories tidily.  They will need to be directed to cross the timing chip mat as they leave transition.

Run
From Transition run clockwise around the “Common Route”, however, do not re-enter the carpark, instead proceed to the road and then turn left past the Smugglers and follow signs up some steps through the woodland.  Turn right at the top and proceed anti-clockwise for a short distance around the monolith, before returning to rejoin Le Chemin de Portelet and then turn left back onto Le Mont du Ouiasne.  Turn right into the carpark and then back towards transition for a final lap of the “Common Route”, this time returning into transition and across the finish mat.

Ouaisne Short Course: Children aged between 8 and 15 (inclusive) on the day of the race (NB the maximum run guidance from the BTF is 600m for TSS (age 8), this extra distance needs to be carefully considered by parents).

The swim will be 100m along the shore line passing two swimmers on their left.  Transition will be the same as for the Long.  The run will be one lap around the “Common Route” crossing the timing chip mat to finish.

Ouaisne Medium Course: TS2 and above and adults (11 and above).

The swim will out and back to the first buoy.  Transition will be the same as for the Long.  The run will be two laps of the “Common Route” before returning to transition to cross the timing chip mat.
