Ana Leaf Les Platons Duathlon Race Report and Results

Jersey Triathlon Club Race Report 17/02/2019

The first Jersey Triathlon Club event of the year – The Ana Leaf Intro Duathlon Les Platons 2019

Postponed by a week, but well worth the wait for better weather conditions, 48 competitors raced in cold but sunny conditions. It was great to see some new faces participating in their first Duathlon as well as club regulars.

The 5 Km run started from Les Platons gravel car park heading east towards Bouley Bay, dropping halfway down the La Vielle Charriere and then up the steep lane of La Rue De L’Epine and back to Les Platons.

First into transition from the run and out on the bike course was Jack Kennedy, followed by Richard Tanguy and then Charlie Bird. The first female into transition was Jo Gorrod, followed by Melissa Messervy and then Katie Silva.

The bike course was an 18km ride, 4 laps from Les Platons to Haute Croix, left at the cross roads towards Trinity Church, turning left again onto La Rue de Tas de Geon and back to Les Platons. Within the first lap Richards Tanguy overtook Jack Kennedy for a lead he never relinquished. Mel Messervy overtook Jo Gorrod on the bike course with Katia Silva still third.

The final leg was a 2.5km run heading west along La Rue des Platons past the top of Bonne Nuit with a dead turn at 1.25km, returning to the Les Platon car park and the finish line. The top 3 positions did not change on the run, with Richard Tanguy winning the male category and Mel Messervy winning the female category.

A big thank you to all the marshals, Louise Bailey, Dougie Smith, Michael Bateman for quickly compiling the race results and the Race Committee for helping with the organisation of the event.

Next event is the Durrell Duathlon on Sunday 17th March.
